Charles T. Clark
Charles established
Clark Law Firm PC in 2003. He has provided counsel to a wide
range of business clients since 1984. His broad expertise in many areas
of business law, with an emphasis in all aspects of commercial real
estate, serves as a reservoir of knowledge that he brings to bear in
assisting clients in achieving their objectives. Charles is known
for his thorough analysis, knowledge of complex business transactions
and practical and innovative solutions.
For over
15 years, Charles was a member of the real estate section of Winstead
Sechrest & Minick P.C., a regional law firm based in Dallas.
Winstead is well-known for its national commercial real estate
practice. As a member of this firm's legal opinion committee for
over ten years, he was charged with the responsibility of approving
written legal opinions issued by the firm. Charles was a founder
of the firm's Washington, D.C. office. He also has advised clients
on financial matters through a business consulting affiliate of the
firm.
Prior to
joining Winstead, Charles was a founder of the commercial real estate
and financing practice of Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, a
Dallas-based firm of over fifty lawyers. While at this firm he
represented a broad range of clients including lenders, developers,
landlords and tenants in commercial real estate transactions.
During the down-cycle of the commercial real estate market in the
mid-1980's, he also became counsel to the FSLIC and the RTC in
connection with the closing and liquidation of several failed savings
and loan associations.
Prior to
joining Thompson, Coe, Charles received his initial training in the real
estate section of the Houston office of Bracewell & Giuliani.
His training, beginning with a summer clerkship at this firm and ending
in late 1984, included commercial real estate financing, purchases,
sales, leases, workouts and foreclosures.
Charles
graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the Dedman School of Law at
Southern Methodist University in 1983. He was awarded the American
Jurisprudence Award in Contract Law for the highest grade in the
first-year Contracts course. He also served on the Moot Court
Board and, during his third year of law school, taught Moot Court class
to first year students.
Charles
graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in
Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas
at Austin. He also graduated with a Master of Biblical Studies
degree from the Log College in 1993.
Charles
is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The District of Columbia Bar, the
Virginia State Bar and the American Bar Association. He also
is a National Allied Member of The American Institute of
Architects. During his career, Charles has maintained a Martindale
Hubbell "AV Preeminant" Rating and has
been selected for several annual additions of the Bar
Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
