Charles T. Clark

Charles established Clark Law Firm PC in 2003.  He has provided counsel to a wide range of business clients since 1984. His broad expertise in many areas of business law, with an emphasis in all aspects of commercial real estate, serves as a reservoir of knowledge that he brings to bear in assisting clients in achieving their objectives.  Charles is known for his thorough analysis, knowledge of complex business transactions and practical and innovative solutions.

For over 15 years, Charles was a member of the real estate section of Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C., a regional law firm based in Dallas.  Winstead is well-known for its national commercial real estate practice.  As a member of this firm's legal opinion committee for over ten years, he was charged with the responsibility of approving written legal opinions issued by the firm.  Charles was a founder of the firm's Washington, D.C. office.  He also has advised clients on financial matters through a business consulting affiliate of the firm.

Prior to joining Winstead, Charles was a founder of the commercial real estate and financing practice of Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, a Dallas-based firm of over fifty lawyers.  While at this firm he represented a broad range of clients including lenders, developers, landlords and tenants in commercial real estate transactions.  During the down-cycle of the commercial real estate market in the mid-1980's, he also became counsel to the FSLIC and the RTC in connection with the closing and liquidation of several failed savings and loan associations.

Prior to joining Thompson, Coe, Charles received his initial training in the real estate section of the Houston office of Bracewell & Giuliani.  His training, beginning with a summer clerkship at this firm and ending in late 1984, included commercial real estate financing, purchases, sales, leases, workouts and foreclosures.

Charles graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in 1983.  He was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Contract Law for the highest grade in the first-year Contracts course.  He also served on the Moot Court Board and, during his third year of law school, taught Moot Court class to first year students.

Charles graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.  He also graduated with a Master of Biblical Studies degree from the Log College in 1993.

Charles is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia State Bar and the American Bar Association.  He also is a National Allied Member of The American Institute of Architects.  During his career, Charles has maintained a Martindale Hubbell "AV Preeminant" Rating and has been selected for several annual additions of the Bar Register of Preeminent  Lawyers.
